2018 Summer Reading Camp Across All Learning Areas

Enclosed is a Regional Unnumbered Memorandum, DepEd NCR, dated March 20, 2018, re: 2018 Summer Reading Camp Across All Learning Areas, the contents of which are self-explanatory’ for the information and guidance of all concerned.

Launching of the said activity may commence during the Card Giving Day (Card Distribution dates scheduled by each school).

Participants to the Summer Reading Camp must be based on the latest Phil-IRI report from Grades 3-5 and Grades 8-10.

Eight-hour rendered services by the Reading teachers is equivalent to one-day service credit; maximum number of contact hours is 40 hours equivalent to a five-day service credit.

Schools may use the Phil-IRI materials, but may provide other validated materials for effective learning to happen.

English Coordinators/Department Heads are likewise advised to furnish the EPS-English a copy of the Summer Reading Camp Proposal/Schedule.

All expenses relevant to the conduct of the Summer Reading Camp shall be charged to the School’s MOOE or local funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.


1. The Curriculum and Learning Management Division, DepEd NCR will conduct the annual 2018 Summer Reading Camp Across All Learning Areas on April 10-13 and April 16-20 for Struggling Readers and April 30-May 4 and May 7-11 for Independent Readers.

a. The title of the activity will be 2018 Summer Reading Camp Across All Learning Areas.
b. Teachers in other learning areas may serve as reading teachers.
c. The following are the scheduled activities for the months of April, May and June, 2018 for your information and guidance.

April 10-13 & April 16-20, 2018 – Camp Activities (Struggling Readers)
April 30-May 4 & May 7-11, 2018 – Camp Activities (Independent Readers)
June 1, 2018 – Submission of Division Reports: Evaluation, Feedbacks, and Best Implementers (Optional-First Place, Second Place and Third Place)

d. The SDOs may decide whether to hold the camp as competition or non-competition. No Regional Search will be held.
e. The SDOs are allowed to modify the schedule of their 2018 Summer Reading Camp Across All Learning Areas provided that it will be conducted within time frame (April 10-May 11, 2018).
f. The SDOs will select and submit one (1) best implementer per division based on the given criteria for analysis of results (Please refer to Enclosure 1)
g. Attached is the monitoring tool to be used by the Regional Monitoring Team and Division Monitoring Team (Please refer to Enclosure 2)
h. Division reports will be submitted in soft and hard copies, paper size should be A4.

2. Participants and working staff from the Regional and Division Offices may be given service credit (40 Learning Hours to 5 Days Service Credits)/Compensatory time off, as the case may be for each day’s attendance.

3. All expenses relative to the conduct of the Summer Reading Camp shall be charged against the MOOE or local funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules.
