2019 Graduation Message of OIC-SDS Carmelino P. Bernadas

My warmest greetings to all the completers and graduates of School Year 2018-2019!

On behalf of the Department of Education (DepEd), Schools Division of Catbalogan City family, I commend your determination, perseverance and hard work which led you to this momentous event in your life. Whether this is your moving-up, completion, or graduation ceremony, what matters is that you have successfully survived in this journey.

This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for All,” is a sensible account of everyone’s effort to highlight the role of our K to 12 Basic Education Program in developing an educated society where the challenges and benefits of diversity are embraced and welcomed by every Filipino. It has been our goal in DepED to ensure that the K to 12 Program empowers you, our dear learners, to become critical thinkers and problem solvers both in the local and global communities. Therefore, I am confident that as you leave the portals of your beloved schools, you are fully equipped with the necessary skills that will lead you to your hearts’ desires. We hope we have armed you with 21st century skills and lifelong competencies through quality education that is accessible, relevant, and liberating for all.

As you recollect all your efforts and celebrate your accomplishments, always remember that your teachers, parents, families, fellow learners, school officials and personnel, community members, education partners, and government leaders are always with you every step of the way. Let them serve as your inspiration to dream and strive not only for your own success, but more so for this country’s progress.

In all your pursuits in life, may you continue to uphold the core values that your alma mater has instilled in you, which is to be the best Filipino citizen with great attitude and character. Always remember that while education is your right, it also bestows upon you a greater responsibility to contribute to the betterment of our society.

To our future leaders and nation-builders, congratulations and God bless!

Carmelino P. Bernadas, Ph.D., CESO VI
