The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), in collaboration with the Courseline Training Center and Thai Public Service Broadcasting, will conduct the 2016 Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction from May 12 to 14, 2016 in Krabi, Thailand.
The Summit aims to:
- promote disaster risk reduction throughout the education sector for sustainable development;
- plan for educational continuity in the context of hazards;
- strengthen a disaster resilient citizenry through education; and
- develop strategies for education and the media to work together in preparing people for the dramatic effects of climate change and future increased natural hazards.
The target participants are the regional/division education program supervisors, school principals/heads, university lecturers from all 18 regions of the Philippines, media professionals, scientists, representatives of United Nations organizations, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations involved in climate change mitigation, risk management, and early warning for disasters.
