Reminder on the Grant of Service Credits to Teachers

Attached is DepEd-NCR Unnumbered Memorandum dated March 10, 2016 re: Reminder on the Grant of Service Credits to Teachers, content of which is Self-explanatory, for information.

Immediate and wide dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.


REMINDER ON THE GRANT OF SERVICE CREDITS TO TEACHERS

  1. DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 authorized the grant of service credits to teachers for work beyond regular functions or beyond regular work hours/days where payment of honorarium or overtime pay is not possible.
  2. In connection with the attendance of teachers to trainings as Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) in the upcoming May 9, 2016 National and Local Elections, teachers who assume the teaching loads of the participating teachers during such training shall be granted service credits if the same exceed their six hour actual teaching as these are in addition to their teaching loads and are considered overload.
  3. Schools Division Superintendents are advised to authorize the grant of service credits to teachers whenever there are activities/programs or work undertaken or participated to by teachers which entitle them thereto pursuant to the Guidelines on the Grant of Service Credits (DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 and DepEd Order No. 84, s. 2003), without need for a reminder from this Office or from the Central Office.
