As per DepEd Order (DO) No. 003, s. 2024, the EOSY rites will be held from May 29 to 31, 2024. Schools are given the flexibility to choose any date within this period to conduct their ceremonies, taking into consideration their local context and the availability of resources.
The memorandum also reiterates the provisions from DO 009, s. 2023, which emphasize the need for graduation and moving-up ceremonies to be simple yet meaningful. Schools are reminded to avoid excessive spending, extravagant attire, or extraordinary venues, focusing instead on the significance of the event in the lives of the learners. Furthermore, non-academic projects should not be imposed as graduation or completion requirements, ensuring that the focus remains on the academic achievements of the students.
For public schools, expenses related to the EOSY rites will be charged to the school’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), subject to existing guidelines. DepEd personnel are strictly prohibited from collecting any contributions or fees for the ceremonies, ensuring that the event remains accessible to all learners regardless of their financial background.
In light of the potential extreme heat during the summer months, schools are advised to hold their EOSY Rites in well-ventilated indoor venues or covered courts. This measure aims to ensure the safety and protection of learners, teachers, and attendees from the harsh weather conditions. Schools are also encouraged to avoid scheduling the rites during the hottest times of the day to minimize the risk of heat-related illnesses.
For any further inquiries or clarifications regarding the conduct of the EOSY Rites, stakeholders may contact the Bureau of Learning Delivery through the provided contact information in the memorandum.
As the school year comes to a close, the DepEd’s guidelines for the EOSY Rites serve as a reminder of the importance of celebrating the achievements of learners while maintaining a focus on simplicity, inclusivity, and safety. By adhering to these guidelines, schools can ensure that the EOSY Rites remain a meaningful and memorable experience for all involved, as they mark the end of another successful academic year and look forward to the bright future that awaits the Filipino youth.
