What is DepEd Enterprise Resource Planning System (DERPS)?
DepEd maximizes use of available technology to transform education to facilitate governance and to enable all its constituents with the proper digital skills demanded by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. DepEd has moved away from building its software to purchasing off-the-shelf system in the form of the DepEd Enterprise Resource Planning System (DERPS). This has accelerated the implementation of various organizational systems and has ensured the availability of numerous vendors that can be contracted to make future adjustments in its software.
DepEd Enterprise Resource Planning System (DERPS) Official Project Launch
DERPS was officially launched at the DepEd Central Office on February 27, 2019.
The First Phase of the DepEd Enterprise Resource Planning System (DERPS) is undertaken in the next nine (9) months with NTT DATA Corporation, a global information technology solutions provider and systems integrator.
Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones has long envisioned a system where data is available whenever and wherever you need it because having the right data is essential for making the right policy decisions. By having information at the click of a button, we not only help increase productivity, but we can also be assured that we have the same data across the board.
And so, the Office of the Undersecretary of Administration (OUA), Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS) and friends from the IT industry gathered together last year, discussed and came out with a proposal – the DepEd Resource Planning System, or DERPS, a robust solution in linking all existing systems of the department.
DepEd Enterprise Resource Planning System (DERPS)
Using software-generated reports, DERPS will be able to give DepEd an immediate picture of its real-time operations like Payroll, Procurement, Inventory, Fixed-assets and Project Management. DERPS can track our inventory like assets and big-ticket items, overhead and commitments like purchase orders, and projects of individual strands and offices, and the departments as a whole. This will increase efficiency in the workplace, translating to more productivity.
