15th NATIONAL DENTAL HEALTH MONTH CELEBRATION

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Learner Support Services-School Health Division (BLSS-SHD), will celebrate the 15th National Dental Health Month in February 2019 with the theme Ngiping Inaruga Mula Pagkabata, Malusog na Ngiti Baon sa Pagtanda. This celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559 dated February 24, 2004.
The celebration aims to:
a. strengthen public awareness on the importance of the good oral health; and
b. encourage dentists, relevant government agencies, and professional organizations to reach out to more people with no access to dental services, especially those who are in countryside.
The month-long celebration will include, among others, the activities suggested below.
First Week | School Children Oral Health Awareness Reinforce the after recess toothbrushing drill Dental Fair Healthy Smile Contest |
Second Week | Oral Health Education Oral health campaign through classroom health talks, symposia, film showing, among other related activities On the spot slogan and poster making contest Promote oral health care among the learners and DepEd staff through interactive activities |
Third Week | Delivery of Dental Services Provide dental services through partnership with Local Government Units, stakeholders and partners |
Fourth Week | Establish and strengthen linkages for promotion of oral health |
DepEd school dentists are advised to coordinate with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) local chapters and other stakeholders on the activities scheduled during the month-long celebration.
Dentists and other school health personnel in the regions and schools divisions shall take the lead in the celebration.
