Project PAG-ARAM

The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC) in coordination with other teachers’ groups has launched the Project PAG-ARAM, an initiative to raise school supplies for children and materials for teachers in Yolanda-affected areas.

The main objective of the project is to provide the school needs of students and teachers in typhoon Yolanda-affected areas of Eastern Visayas, Northern Cebu, Northern Panay and Northern Palawan. The project aims to collect as many donations as possible from schools, students, teachers, parents and private organizations and individuals.

The project secretariat will be accepting donations such as notebooks, papers, pens, coloring materials, school uniforms, shoes or slippers, socks, school bags and underwear for children. While for teachers, we will be accepting chalk, eraser, Manila paper, pentel pens and markers, lesson plan, record book, plywood and paint for improvised blackboard and other materials.

Schools and organizations may also participate in the Adopt-a-School scheme by providing a recipient school in the disaster area with all the supplies and materials needed by teachers and students. For this particular scheme, the secretariat will provide the list of schools and their respective data as well as the contact person for direct coordination.

The material donations within the first week of January will be distributed to some schools in Leyte on January 15 to coincide with the launching of the project in Leyte. However, all other donations will be accepted until May 30, 2015 or before the start of school year 2015-2016.

Donations may be sent to our office or in any school within Metro Manila designated as drop-off point or may be picked-up by our team. For those who wish to help in the form of cash, donations may be deposited to bank account Teachers Cooperative of Valenzuela City, account # 003850110952 BDO Karuhatan Branch, Valenzuela (kindly inform Ms. Felisa Matus, the project Treasurer at 09064078384).
