Policy Guidelines in Teaching Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (ESP)

Customized Policy Guidelines in Teaching Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao

DepEd Order No. 31 s. 2012 entitled, Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of Grades 1 to 10 of the K to 12 Basic Education Program (BEP) effective school year 2012-2013, provides details on the time allotment per learning area across grade levels. Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP), one of the learning areas, is taught thirty (30) minutes per day or one hundred fifty’ (150) minutes per week in the elementary. In the Junior High School (JHS), it is taught two (2) hours per week or one (1) hour a day for two (2) days per week.

In order to ensure that all content and performance standards are covered including mastery of the competencies designed in the Curriculum Guide (GC) in each grade level, Schools Division Office of Isabela issues this Customized Policy Guidelines for implementation starting school year 2019-2020.

For Elementary:

EsP should be scheduled either in the second or third period in the morning and afternoon sessions.

The thirty (30)-minute time allotment per day for five (5) days a week should be utilized in covering the required Learning Competencies with respect to the learning codes specified by the Curriculum Guide from Grade 1 to Grade 6.

Assessment of learning outcomes should be in strict adherence to the provisions of DepEd Order no. 8, s. 2015 – Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program (BEC), like any other learning area.

For Junior High School:

For big schools, School Heads should assign a subject teacher to handle EsP. Class Adviser should not be the EsP teacher of their own advisorship to ensure that no teacher will handle more than one (1) subject in a class.

EsP should be scheduled either in the second or third period in the morning and afternoon sessions.

The two (2) hours per week or one hour per day for two (2) days time allotment, should be maximized in covering the required Learning Competencies with respect to the Learning Codes specified in the Curriculum Guide from Grade 7 to Grade 10.

Assessment of learning outcomes should be in strict adherence to the provisions of DepEd Order no. 8, s. 2015 – Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program (BEP), like any other learning area.

To ensure compliance to this Policy Guidelines, all schools are mandated to submit their Classroom Program to the Office of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) on or before the opening of class for School Year 2019-2020.
