2015 National Observance of Deaf Awareness Week

1. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 829 dated November 8, 1991 entitled Declaring the Period from November 10-16 of Every Year as the Deaf Awareness Week, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Elementary Education-Special Education Division, in coordination with the Hard of Hearing Group Philippines, will lead the 2015 National Observance of the Deaf Awareness Week. The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) will host this year’s celebration.

2. With the theme Making the Right Real: Promoting Inclusive Deaf-Friendly Communities, the observance aims to raise awareness and consciousness on Deaf Persons, and their important role in contributing to nation-building.

3. All public, private and Special Education (SPED) centers and schools with SPED programs for the deaf are encouraged to undertake the following suggested activities:

4. Moreover, the regional and schools division offices are enjoined to conduct other appropriate innovative and creative activities, which will not entail cost or will not disrupt classes.

5. All the abovementioned activities shall be in accordance with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.

6.
