In support of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Department of Education (DepEd), signed on September 23, 2016, “… to collaborate/undertake trainings and other relevant activities for the K to 12 program”, and “…to support the K to 12 Arts and Design Trainings and other relevant activities that CCP may undertake for the K to 12 programs through the issuance of memoranda…” the CCP, through its Arts Education Department, will conduct a series of workshops under the 2019 CCP Summer Arts Academy, for teachers of Senior High School (SHS) Arts and Design Track, SHS’s Core Subjects with Humanities and Arts related competencies and the Special Program in the Arts (SPA) from April 29 to May 4, 2019 at the CCP and from May 6 to 10, 2019 at the Siliman University, Dumaguete City.

The 2019 CCP Summer Arts Academy is especially designed to provide teachers (non-beginners) with professional and specialized training on their respective art forms, to build their capacities and advance their artistic development by focusing on production and performance techniques, principles/processes, arts knowledge and skills, and pedagogical approaches. Only 30 teachers will be accepted per module.

Preference will be given to teacher-applicants who are actively engaged with creative and artistic/management productions/activities by mounting artistic productions/exhibition, attending major arts festivals (national and international) and winning artistic awards and recognitions, or to those who are actively engaged in mentoring/coaching students in the arts, for recent competitions such as National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA), National Festival of Talents (NFOT) and other national and international competitions/exhibitions in the different fields of art.

The 2019 CCP Arts Academy shall consist of workshops and training modules to be facilitated by artist-teachers and practitioners from the CCP resident companies and partners.

Culture-based Choreography for Street Dance Festival

The workshop focuses on the processes and tools needed to compose and choreograph a street dance festival piece that is culturally rooted.
It includes modules on improvisation, staging and narrative development.
Intensive Workshop for Dance Teachers

by Ballet Philippines Dance School
This is an ideal opportunity for dance teachers to enhance their understanding of various dance languages and pedagogical approaches.

Modules will include physical practices and theoretical studies-lectures, technique classes, and movement composition.
Costume Design for Street Dance Festival

This is designed for individuals with the desire to explore the skills and processes needed when designing for street dance festivals.

Participants will gain understanding on conceptualizing design that are culturally rooted.
Film Script Writing

This is about the practice of researching the story, developing the narrative, writing the screenplay—the narrative flow and dialogue.
Mixed Media

This is arts that combines the techniques of drawing, painting, sculpture, media and art forms such assemblage and collage in one artwork.

In this mixed media, the participants tackle the concept of personal geographies and learn how to transform their life experiences into mixed-media art. This culminates in Performance Art.
Rehearsal and Performance Techniques

Rehearsal methodologies, processes and techniques will enable participants to apply these in the context of theatre performance.

The workshop is intended for those who have background on acting and directing.
Stage Management

It refers to the practice of organization and coordination of an event or theatrical production.
Managing Your Arts Event

Managing arts events programs particularly in planning, programming and marketing/connecting to the community.

Siliman University (SU), Dumaguete City
Children’s Choral Workshop

by Dr. Elizabeth Susan Vista-Suarez of the SU College of Performing and Visual Arts
This workshop is designed for participants who handle children’s choir.

The modules include vocal/choral techniques, artistry, conducting mechanics with score reading and interpretation of musical signs.
Music Therapy

by Ms. Danielle Elise Vista-Zamar of the SU College of Performing and Visual Arts
This module provides a substantive overview of Music Therapy as non-pharmacologic approach and a toll for healing or improvement of quality of life in different ages.

The modules include processes, strategies and interventions of Music Therapy. In addition, activities will allow learners / participants to formulate a musical piece applicable for collaborative interventions.

*These workshop details are subject to change.

The applicants must submit the following on or before March 15, 2019:

a. Completed application form provided in the enclosure, and

b. Portfolio of the following to determine appropriateness of level:

i. List of the most recent productions/exhibits mounted;

ii. List of the most recent major arts festivals at the local, national, and international events attended/participated;

iii. List and contact number of artists and artist groups that the teachers worked with (for reference purposes); and

iv. Copy of Sining sa Eskwela, 2017 or 2018 CCP Summer Arts Academy, and other recognized training certificates as proof of attendance on arts training programs.

Applicants shall be charged a registration fee of Three Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P3,500) for workshop kits, training laboratory and materials for the duration of the workshop.

a. Registration, transportation, board and lodging and other expenses shall be charged to School MOOE/Division/Region Funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

b. Advance payment may be deposited after receiving the official notification or acceptance from CCP Summer Arts Academy Secretariat.

Free registration shall be provided for a limited number of participants for winners of the national and international competitions (NAMCYA, Sayaw Pinoy, NFOT, Sirtulog, among other competitions) for the past three years. Applicants who wish to avail of the free registration shall submit additional pertinent documents.

In addition, in commemoration of CCP’s 50th Anniversary, free registration for a limited number of participants for each workshop of the following provinces shall be provided:

Luzon:

  • Mountain Province
  • Catanduanes

Visayas:

  • Samar (West, Northern, Eastern)
  • Leyte

Mindanao:

  • Maguindanao
  • Marawi
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Sulu
  • Lanao Del Norte and Sur
  • North Cotabato
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Zamboanga Del Norte

Participants from these provinces should qualify and submit their registration and necessary requirements on or before the deadline. Failure to meet the deadline, they shall be charged the full registration fee.

Walk-in applicants will not be entertained.

Likewise, the CCP Arts Academy includes the National Folk Dance Workshop to be conducted by the Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS) from May 20 to 24, 2019 at the Folk Arts Theater, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City. The PFDS shall take charge of arrangements on registration, board and lodging and workshop schedule.
