Virtual In-Service Training Program for Teachers (VINSET 3.0)

The Educational Technology Unit (EdTech) of the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS) will host the Televised Virtual In-Service Training Program for Teachers (VINSET 3.0) with the theme “Uniting Teachers Towards Digital Transformation and Excellence.” The virtual activity will be shown on August 8-11, 2022, and will be streamed via DepEd’s online platforms. The recorded session will be broadcast at a later date by DepEd TV’s local cable partners.

The activities are designed to impart the most recent technological innovation in education to prepare teachers (both public and private) for in-person classes using various ICT and digital learning applications. Furthermore, the topics are carefully selected to ensure teacher upskilling, which is required for effective implementation in their respective classes in any learning environment. The CPD Council for Professional Teachers accredited the Televised VINSET 3.0 with the Accreditation Number: PTR-2022-366-1899 and 15 CPD Units.

VINSET 1.0

The first Virtual In-Service Training for Teachers 2021 (VINSET 2021), which took place from March 14 to 18, 2021, was a watershed moment for DepEd’s provision of ICT-enabled training. Five hundred fourteen thousand six hundred fifty-nine (514,659) participants attended the VINSET.

Teachers were trained on how to use the Learning Management System for class delivery, how to use DepEd TV/Radio, when to utilize video conferencing tools, and how to use authoring tools to create learning resources. Over 6.5 million certificates were issued to 514,659 individuals, representing sixty percent of the teaching population, who could meet the course requirements for VINSET 1.0.

VINSET 2.0

Approximately 73% of the DepEd teaching force participated in the Second Virtual In-Service Training (VINSET 2.0). Between August 30 and September 3, 2021, 606,673 educators participated in the VINSET. This is a new record for the most significant number of concurrent participants in a nationwide webinar.

The following are the objectives of the second VINSET:

  1. Capacitate teachers using different online modality platforms, including DepEd Learning Management System, DepEd Commons, DepEd Online (FB Page, YouTube, ETULAY Tutorial Sessions), DepEd TV, and DepEd Radio.
  2. Provide awareness and proper handling of technology tools in delivering instruction in a synchronous and asynchronous format.
  3. Learn and apply different components of cyber wellness (data privacy, netiquette, and troubleshooting).
  4. Teach emerging technology tools and applications to maximize the use of the cross-platform operating system.
  5. Inspire teachers through guided programs to innovate and upgrade their skills in the use of different solutions and in acquiring international certification under Microsoft, Adobe, and Google.

  3. The main advantage of virtual training is flexibility it can be designed and scheduled to best fit learners’ needs and reduce or eliminate impact to work and other areas of life. Obviously, virtual training has the edge in any situation (like a lockdown) where it is physically impossible to gather.
