Hi, I was really confused about your answer of number 5.In the answer key, it states that the answer is “Hedonism” but as far as I know and also what our lecture told us and also according from books and researches that Hedonism is the ethical theory that pleasure (in the sense of the satisfaction of desires) is THE HIGHEST GOOD and proper aim of human life. But the situation in number 5 contradicts with the answer.
5. Mr. Angelo always tells his students that pleasure IS NOT THE HIGHEST GOOD. His teaching is against which philosophy?
Hi Sheryl,
Since I do not see a response to your concern yet, let me help you out.
You are actually right about Hedonism — the ethical theory that pleasure (in the sense of the satisfaction of desires) is the highest good and proper aim of human life. If we are to evaluate the question, it was only asking as to which philosophy is Mr. Angelo’s position against with. Now, since for him “pleasure is not the highest good”, then definitely he is against Hedonism. Hence, the answer to number 5 is D.

15. Bruner’s theory on intellectual development moves from enactive to iconic and symbolic stages. In which stage(s) are diagrams helpful to accompany verbal information?
Why is the answer to this, symbolic? Shouldn’t it be Iconic?..
Also, when you do some digging on the internet, you’d find this:
Iconic (1 – 6 years)
This is where information is stored visually in the form of images (a mental picture in the mind’s eye). For some, this is conscious; others say they don’t experience it. This may explain why, when we are learning a new subject, it is often helpful to have diagrams or illustrations to accompany the verbal information.
